Product Overview

To make Drop Liner backpacks, I compile scrap fabric from drysuit factories and find other high-performance fabrics that would otherwise be discarded. I combine them with the best zippers, trim, and buckles around to make unique, streamlined backpacks. All 100% assembled here in the shop in Portland Oregon.

Choose from a selection of recycled sailcloth, scrap drysuit Nylon, eco-friendly Northpak® Polyester, and a range of high performance materials like Dyneema®, Kevlar®, Cuben® Fiber.

Keep your items dry in the seam sealed liner made from drysuit factory scrap Gore-Tex® - it’s from a few seasons ago, so they’ll never use it. Get more detail on the options on the materials page.

Available upgrades include:

Laptop compartment: Side access laptop zip with YKK® Uretek water resistant zipper, accomodating up to a 17" laptop for Mediums and Larges. OR interior laptop drop pocket, accomodating up to a 15" laptop for Mediums and Larges. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns about fitting a specific laptop into a specific bag size.

Hip Belt: Upgrade to a padded hip belt with two Uretek® zipper pockets, or add a standard webbing hip belt.

Side Pocket(s): Choose to add one or two side pockets to your pack, allowing you to carry easily accessible water bottles, thermoses, etc. The ’same fabric' design incorporates a slide lock and nylon webbing along the top edge instead of elastic webbing. The flush side pockets are made from Challenge Sailcloth Ultrastretch® material in black, the most difficult to cut fabric I have ever dealt with in my life - and it’s stretchy!

Main Buckle: Upgrade from the standard plastic Duraflex® buckle to a Fidlock® magnetic buckle or a COBRA closure. (personally, I recommend the Fidlock®, it’s pretty sweet.)

As a tiny company, I rely on bags with logos being seen 'in the wild' to get exposure - as a designer, I totally understand the appeal of having a bag with no logo. I hope a middle ground of paying an extra premium for the 'no logo' option makes sense, but please let me know your thoughts!

Securely closed with an upgradeable 1½" buckle, our waterproof* backpack is available in three different sizes and custom coloring options.

  • Small: 15 Liter capacity (1037 Cubic Inches)
    10" wide x 5" deep x 17" tall (25.4cmx12.7cmx43cm)

  • Medium: 24 Liter capacity (1464 Cubic Inches)
    11.5" wide x 9" deep x 21" tall (29cmx23cmx54cm)

  • Large: 35 Liter capacity (2130 Cubic Inches)
    13" wide x 10.25" deep x 23" tall (33cmx26cmx59cm)

PLEASE NOTE: Each pack is different.  There will be slight changes in the fabrics my partner factories use, so naturally my stock changes accordingly.  Please let me know in the comments box during checkout if you have any special requests / color requests - thank you!

* Not submersible

Truce Drop Liners are unique — regardless of the material chosen to make them, they look like nothing else, and they function perfectly.

    Just...

It's clear that the design of this backpack has been thought out over many years of use. I'm overwhelmed by the small details which match up more closely to my ideal backpack than I would have thought possible. The kevlar fabric is fantastic, the fit is perfect and the size (which I was concerned that the medium would be too small) is just right. I look forward to getting decades of use out of this

    Drop Liner...

I have had this bag for about 2 weeks now and have used it daily since arrival. First impression was....wow! Solid, well crafted and different from all the black bags out there. Right level of technical with a little bespoke thrown in. It does have some organization but I found it best used with additional pouches. I am no word smith so I encourage you to check out some reviews on YouTube,

    A bag for the...

Posted by Alex Southgate on Jan 19th 2022

I previously owned a backpack from the now defunct SF-based company, Alite. It had pretty much all of the features I wanted in a bag and not much more. Sadly the material gave way after about 8 years of ownership. After hunting far and wide I came across Truce Designs. I worked with Luke to lock in the spec and received the bag 3 days after submitting payment - that's a fast turnaround for a relatively bespoke product. I've had the bag now for a couple of weeks and I love it. So much thought has been put into the design. It's got all the features I want and the construction looks to be bomb proof. I went with the Sparta Kevlar fabric and am love the color and feel and am looking forward to breaking it in over the coming years. Love the product, the ethos, the quality, and the experience of working with Luke.

Very hard to find anything like this these days-- custom built to order by one person from beginning to end, raw materials to finished backpack, which itself is just a joy to use.
